10 Untravelled Paths Autumn Activities

After quite an unusual summer (and not our kind of unusual), most of us are experiencing the wanderlust blues. As Autumn approaches, we are hoping for things to go back to at least a degree of normal. In anticipation, we thought we’d have a look at all the Untravelled Paths activities available throughout the season.

1. Bird Watching in the Delta (September)

A bird watcher’s paradise. September is the final month of the season, with most properties and activities unavailable after that. With the perfect temperature, you’ll see far less of the mosquitos you are likely to encounter in the peak of summer.

2. Halloween Party (October)

If you’re into Dracula and all things goth, then the Halloween party at Bran Castle, aka Dracula’s Castle is not to be missed. 3. Watch the sunset over the Sahara Desert

There is something truly enchanting about riding a camel into the heart of the Erb Chebbi in the Sahara Desert in Morocco. The quiet, still surroundings, as you make yourself comfortable on the biggest sand dune available and watching the sunset over the desert, are simply magical.

4. See the Northern Lights

Undoubtedly the most magical of all bucket list experiences due to its elusive and mysterious nature. Difficult to argue if you’re lucky enough to see the colourful Aurora Borealis dancing across the dark night sky. A true once in a lifetime moment.

5. Observing Brown Bears (September & October)

Transylvania in Romania has one of the densest populations of Brown Bears in Europe. In fact, the forests of the Carpathian Mountains are teeming with wildlife. You’ll have the opportunity to visit one of the observation huts and watch these mighty creatures along with their friends. On our last visit, we saw foxes, a family of wild boar, and four brown bears including two cubs!

6. Cooking in Italy

Learn how to make your own hand-made delicious pasta and combine it with the freshest ingredients from Italy’s number one food region of Puglia. Make the ultimate pasta dish and then….. eat it all yourself! Our Dolce Vita Experience is one of the best culinary experiences going and, with temperatures high but crowds low, Autumn is one of the best times to visit.

7. Learn the fascinating history of Sarajevo

When we think of Sarajevo, many of us remember the news reporting of the Siege of Sarajevo during the Balkan War in the 1990s. Those of us who liked our history at school might think of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in 1914 by the Serbian separatist group the Black Hand. However you view Sarajevo, it’s a truly fascinating city in one of the Balkans’ most beautiful and underrated countries.

8. Sail a Yacht in Kotor Bay (September & October)

There is no better way to explore Kotor Bay than via yacht as it allows you to combine exploring local towns, lunch, and swimming in crystal clear waters. Once your adventure comes to an end you can kick back and watch the sunset from Porto Montenegro’s harbour which is home to a number of the world’s super yachts

9. Hike across the Albanian Alps (September & October)

Lockdown has left many of us feeling confined, but also with bigger waistlines than we would like. If that is the case then you might want to consider our Albanian Alps experiences which offer some of the best, undiscovered hiking in Europe. It’s one of the few areas in the world that’s so remote the nearest village might be a 4-hour walk or a 12-hour drive – no problems social distancing here!

10. Hot Air Ballooning

The scenery is breath-taking but it’s the sheer volume of balloons which adds to the magic. Hot Air Ballooning in Turkey’s Cappadocia should be on everyone’s list. As you silently drift over the jagged landscape you can be accompanied by up to 150 other balloons, an unforgettable experience.
