Extend Your Trip
Your trip to Bosnia can easily be combined with Montenegro or you may wish to upgrade to our Adriatic & Beyond Experience which includes the Mini Bosnia highlights.
Respect Local Customs
It is easy to forget that you're visiting a Muslim country so please be conscious of that when packing. It's always useful to have a scarf when exploring so you can cover up if necessary.
Always Go Local
Whether it's food or drink we highly recommend you choose the local products rather than the imported ones, not only for an authentic experience but also it's better value.
Sarajevo Airport
We can also cater for a Sunday arrival at Sarajevo Airport. The itinerary would include the same highlights but it would be reordered and we would switch a night in Trebinje for a night in Sarajevo.
As a tour operator, we are not able to offer inclusive flights as part of our experiences however we are more than happy to help you find the most appropriate incoming and outgoing flights for you. All the listed airports fly directly in and out of Dubrovnik with multiple different airlines to choose from. We highly recommend using Skyscanner to find the cheapest flights.

Book your trip in a few easy steps.
The currency used in BiH is the Convertible Mark, often abbreviated as BAM or KM.
The easiest option is to head to a cash machine once you’ve touched down in Bosnia and Herzegovina to withdraw funds. There are ATMs in most places you’re staying in so access shouldn’t be a problem. If you have cash, you will find plenty of exchange points in the old town. Your guide will point you in the right direction to ensure you get the best rates.
In Croatia, vast majority of businesses accept credit/debit cards. As for BiH, well-established restaurants will accept credit/debit cards too, while smaller cafes, antique shops, and similar will only take local cash. We recommend having some cash on you available.
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, a meal goes for around £8-10 per person. Dubrovnik, being a well-established tourist destination, means that souvenirs, museums, and cable car rides will cost from £5 to £20. In Mostar and Sarajevo, all of that will be around three times cheaper, and the majority of sights where you pay the entry fee is already part of the itinerary so the fees are included.
The estimated total budget for the whole trip is between £140 and £170 per person, of course depending on what type of venues you choose to eat at, and the type of extra activities you want to do.
Bosnia and Herzegovina has a continental climate with warm springs and summers, the peak summer month being August when the temperature goes up to 30-odd degrees Celsius. It's worth noting that Mostar and Trebinje are typically warmer than Sarajevo which is at a higher altitude. There are rain showers in both countries, however, so you might want to add a piece of clothing or two to be ready for that as well, especially in April/early May, and late September/October.
You can always contact the UTP team on +44 207 101 4061 or info@untravelledpaths.com. Before you travel, you will also receive a personalized itinerary with the contact details of the local manager in the Balkans should there be any problems. Your guide will be on hand throughout the trip as well, so you're in safe hands.
Our digital booklet, which you will receive before travel, contains all the information you need about optional activities. Simply drop us an email letting us know what you'd like to do during your trip, and we'll take care of the rest. Please note that the payment for the optional activities will be taken locally in cash.
It is safe. And although there are still a few land mine zones, they are off-limits, well secured, and properly warned. Your local guides will know about them so do liaise with them if you want to wander off the beaten track. Pick-pocketing and similar crimes are not too much of a problem, if at all, in both of these countries.
